Happy New Year!

New year was great for us. We spent eve with family hanging out and watched a scary, but good, movie. New year's day we went to Sugarcreek to our favorite furniture  store, Weaver's. We bought some new pieces and I'm so excited. Every piece is made and will take about 12 weeks before it arrives.

Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!

We had a nice day and many of the family came for dinner. First time having prime rib and it was delicious.

We had relaxing day on Friday and stayed in all day. Saturday we drove to Youngstown. Stan had to work at YSU University so I though I would visit some quilt shops that I don't get to visit because the drive is 1.5 hours away. A new shop I wanted to visit I could not find. The next quilt shop that I visited once before was closed. Third times a charm and I visited the Bernina store in Boardman.
Dasher modeling his new coat. He hates it! I wanted something  that reflects light when taking walks in the evening.  My neighborhood is wonderful, but very dark in the evening.  Oh well, will try again.
Alex would not sit on Santa's lap, too much of a man I guess, so next best thing. Yes, that is his broken wrist wrapped up like a candy cane!

There is a tree in my Volkswagon!

I thought this was so cute the other day when I went to my local quilt shop.  We have had two of these in the family while growing up, although, not convertible.

Trying to finish up Christmas cards.  Do you ever get to the point that it's only a week away so why do the cards, lights, trees, etc.?  I do sometimes, but in the end it's worth the joy and I just leave it up a couple weeks longer ;-)

Gray gloomy day in Ohio.  Would you believe this was taken at 4:30? Yep, gray gloomy day.  It is actually darker than how how the picture looks.

Santa and the Flag

Stan played Santa at the American Legion today.  Rode in on a fire engine and everything.  I took pics with the camera so I have to download those before I can post.

Last night we were on our way out to the store and came upon this.  The city hall is decorated in honor of the firemen. I'm glad I was able to catch the picture as we were driving.

Working on a new hat for Alex.  It is black with these strands that glow when lights hit it.  Like reflective tape.  Will send progress soon as I have to restart it.  Below the pics show with and without flash.  Neat, huh!

And the fur . . .

We have three cats and two dogs - all rescue pets. I get most of my loving from the cats in my sewing room. The dogs just follow me around everywhere I go.

Salem, Dasher, Gracie, Moo and Josie. Love them all.

Did you know?

This a little devotional I'm reading.  Inspiring Thoughts for Quilters by Patricia Mitchell.  This little book has really great stories, quotes and even some hints and tips.
Sharyn Rigg writes "Be sure to thread your needle on the end of the thread as it comes off the spool.  Knot the end where you cut it off the spool.  This way, your thread is less likely to twist and knot as you sew."

This is the best tip I've seen for a while as I've been working on my hexies and EPP and keep tangling and knotting my thread.  I don't know if it works, but I am sure going to give it a try!

Progress on my Drayton Hall Quilt by Di Ford.  I have never EPP before and I have found a new love.
